I always found it interesting that Reagan's Hollywood image informed and guided many of his real-world policies. He was very interested in "reclaiming" the lovely myth of the 1950s--especially when it came to the foundation and make up of the American family. Never mind that, apart from TV families, nonesuch existed in the 1950s. He very much used the nostalgia card.

He was a play-actor. He wasn't just a play-actor, but he was a play-actor.
