You'd think this should work (the first one, at least), and yet...no.

Sienna Miller isn't having a good couple of days, fashionwise.

Not a good couple of days at all.

While I'm in the mode of recommending things to watch on TV, don't you think it should be more than the same three shows?

Good thing I just caught Kristen Schaal's special on Comedy Central, isn't it?

You may know Schaal from her occasional commentaries on The Daily Show.

Certainly that is where I first saw her (and why I decided to give her special a shot). I'm glad I did. It was really, really funny; smart and kind of surreal.

In a way that Sarah Silverman often aims for but, to my eyes, misses as often as she hits (also Kristen's not as obsessed with talking dirty onstage).

I recommend keeping an eye out for the re-runs. Schaal's a very skilled comedianne.

Here's a couple of more clips. The first is from the special itself, the second is her doing an earlier form of some of the same material as the special.

Try it yet?

With only one more episode set to air this season, it's probably too late for any of you who haven't yet to heed my entreaties about what a great show Terminator is. Of course, that doesn't mean you can't rent the DVDs...

But anyway, having sworn that if this show doesn't get picked up for another season, it won't be because I didn't prod all and sundry that I could into watching it, I offer you this article by Josh Friedman, executive producer of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles:

The Terminator as Metaphor for Life

Excerpt:

...we needed a central relationship to anchor the story. The first Terminator movie was a romance, really, between Kyle and Sarah. The second movie is a father-son story between John and the Terminator. So I thought my show, at its core, would be a family drama, a relationship between a mother and a son who is coming of age.

Dear Sienna Miller...

Ow.

love is love is...

Electric Dreams was not, shall we say, the most realistic of movies (a boy-girl-computer love triangle?) but it did have a couple of things going for it. One was that the girl was played by the lovely Virginia Madsen, then in her early 20s.

Another was a pretty good (if pretty disposable) electro-pop soundtrack, including the hit title single by Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder, and this surprisingly substantial song by Culture Club...

...which has come to have a meaning, for some of us, beyond the context of the film.

I'd mock, but I have over 15 Star Wars books at home from the library right now, so clearly, I haven't a leg to stand on
