A question for our Canadian friends

Republicans including John McCain, Karl Rove and Neil Cavuto have been putting it about that President Obama's health care plan amounts to "socialized medicine." Such as I believe you have there in your lovely country.

Now--putting aside for a moment that this is false--let's just say it was true.

Is there some reason I should be anxious about this?

No. You should really be more excited about it. It's not a perfect system, and in Ontario, there are things that have been privatized (which is ridiculous), but overall, it's better to have relatively equal access to health care than to have to pay through the nose for the right to it.

Agreed its not perfect but you can see specialists and get care but you don't have to worry about it bankrupting your family. Emergency care will be better because everyone who CAN'T pay will not be clogging up the system. Your quality of life will be better and the stress on you and your family will be reduced. Not all 'socialist' ideas are bad...some are kind and should be your right.
