A woman who was awarded the Silver Star--the nation's third-highest medal for bravery in combat--has been removed from combat. Why? Because chicks can't fight. Seriously, that's what it says, in black-and-white. "Chicks can't fight."
...oh all right, not in so many words, but the implication is clearly there.

I don't want to seem like I love to contradict you, because I don't but, it's not because "chicks can't fight."
It is because a) the American people do not want to see women in any great number on the battlefield as foot-soldiers. The images of women being killed and captured and, unfortunately, sexually abused and raped when captured is something our national psyche will not accept no matter how much we are for equal rights for men and women, and b) men are more likely to take risky chances to protect women in combat than other men - something that was studied and proven by Israel who had women in combat and who now do restrict them somewhat.
So while I don't agree with the idea of pulling this brave woman out of combat, I just have to correct the misconception that it is because the military leadership does not believe women can fight.
BTW, we have a lot of women fighter and copter pilots who are deep in the fight.
