At least two members of the House of Representatives–both of whom are on record opposing gay rights–will be hosting fundraisers at the upcoming Billy Joel/Elton John “Face2Face” concert at Nationals Park on July 11.
Why does this make sense? Because the two members of the House of Representatives are, clearly, idiots. However, so is Elton John.

One of my profs (a self-described butch lesbian) is also not a big "fan" of the idea of gay marriage. She says the legality of such an institution doesn't make her any less committed to her partner, and takes some of the bite out of being outside the "heteronormative system." While I would never, ever consider her an idiot, I have to disagree with her, simply on equality grounds. Having said that, we live in a country where gay marriage is the same legally whether you're straight or gay, so maybe both her and my points are fairly moot.
