A little something to keep in mind the next time a Republican accuses a Democrat of being a coward. Because you know it's coming any day now.

I knew that, but it looks so much worse all lined up like that.
And it's the Democrats who are anti-military.
And it's the Democrats who spit on our soldiers.
And it's the Democrats who disrespect our soldiers.
And it's the Democrats who call our soldiers losers.
And it's the Democrats who call our soldiers occupiers.
And it's the Democrats who disregard what our troops have done in Iraq.
And it's the Democrats who want to cut and run like cowards while our troops want to finish the job.
And it's the Republicans who get overwhelming support from our military.
Funny how that works.
"And it's the Democrats who want to cut and run like cowards while our troops want to finish the job."
That's funny-I could have sworn it was the Bush administration that was now talking about doing just that. Not in so many words, of course.
"And it's the Republicans who get overwhelming support from our military."
Can you cite a contemporary source for that assertion, please? As in 2005-the year that it has finally become clear how insane this was was/is?
Well, for starters, here are two pre-election surveys:
From USA Today
From the Guardian
Liberals thought they had made their case last year. They were wrong.
I know liberals will downplay the surveys, but that's expected. Commanders on the ground argue that immediate withdrawal is not the answer. They, unlike liberals, don't see this as insane, they see this as a job that must be completed. Unfortunately they're not getting the support they need from home.
Bush is buckling under pressure from the polls and the pressure from the Democratic rhetoric, plain and simple; even after Murtha's statements were exposed as mere rhetoric.
And even that statement is debatable. With the elections coming up, it could have been the U.S. Government's plan to start moving troops out by early next year. The Democrats are taking the opportunity to portray themselves as a Party that stood up to Bush and brought the troops home. They do this by going on a PR campaign, calling for an immediate withdrawal. The only problem is that they forgot to vote yes on a resolution calling for an immediate withdrawal.
My use of the phrase "As in 2005-the year that it has finally become clear how insane this war was/is" may have thrown you.
As for:
"The only problem is that they forgot to vote yes on a resolution calling for an immediate withdrawal."
Well, thanks in part to that Schmidt woman, I think most people saw that resolution as the politically transparent operation that it was.
