I have to disagree with you. There wasn't a lot about Magnolia's old career, but every once in a while they would drop in a reference to an old feature story
The biggest problem I had with this book was separating Bebe the character from the real life person on which she was based. But I guess it doesn't matter that it was only lightly fictionalized, because I enjoyed it anyway.

I guess what I really objected to was that it kept telling me that such-and-such a celebrity thought she was good, or at least important.
Rather than showing me. I really hate to sound like a writing teacher, but "show not tell," 'yknow?
Still this is probably splitting hairs, because like you I enjoyed the book.
