That's the most frightening thing I've ever seen in my whole entire life

You know, I've never understood the appeal of SpongeBob SquarePants. I wouldn't want to be the poor sucker that thing falls on.

I can see where it might be kind of fun for children, but it's not for me.

Then again, I feel the same way about the Harry Potter books, and I know a lot of adults who love those.

Then again again, some people feel the same way about Bugs & Daffy cartoons, and I love those...

I really enjoy the Harry Potter books. It's like one long, coming-of-age story in serial form. I find it is more realistic than most of the coming-of-age tales that focus on one event or short series of events that "change the hero's life forever."

The magical world in the books, while completely fascinating, is basically window dressing. If you look at them like that, you may find them more appealing.

Harry's adventures are getting very, very adult, though, so I don't think most kids under the age of 12 are going to be able to understand or appreciate the last two books.

I've always imagined I would absolutely adore the Potter books too if I'd been a kid when they started.

They seem very close to books I did adore when I was. I do enjoy the films, especially Hermoine.

It may not just be that I'm older, I also don't read very much fiction at all these days, apart from a few mystery series. It's just where my taste went.
